My first “adult” vacuum was a canister vac, called Electrolux. I had the Aqua Blue edition and it worked like a Jet Engine until they discontinued the line and you could no longer get the very tiny disposable vacuum bags that went inside of it. So it sat for years inside a closet and I finally gave it away…
Then as soon as I did, they brought the whole Electrolux Brand back! So you have me to thank for that!
When you are the one and only Domestic Engineer the rule of thumb is that you are supposed to vacuum your home 1 time for each person who lives in the home. So if you have 2 adults and 2 kids in the home then you should technically vacuum your home 4 times in a 24 hour period! LOL!!
On top of this you are supposed to also vacuum 1 x per animal inside your home. Since I live like Dr. Dolittle does then I would spend my whole day vacuuming and nothing else. In case you are wondering this would be 12 times in one day!
So when people ask me about how often I should I vacuum my home, I just tell people 1 time a day should suffice.
Having a great vacuum is helpful to keep pet dander down. I personally like the Dyson brand, they have become more commercialized in the last decade or so. They also have a new cordless one for Pet hair and if you are vacuuming an area run, the suction is so strong that it picks up the carpet as you go.
Shark also has some great vacuums as well. You can go to any Cleaning Supply business and “test out” a vacuum that you like there if you are unsure.
